Book Review-Fall Edition

Hey party peeps! Happy Friday!! Big weekend plans over at my house. My big girl has her winter semi formal dance tonight. Ahhhhh. It's times like this that make me so glad I had kids. Hahaha. For real though, getting my girl ready for her dance tonight just makes me feel so giddy. I know in a quick minute it will be prom, then her wedding day. Savoring every single second.

It is turning cold around my neck of the woods so that has me itchy to make all the comfort food items and enjoy my new fireplace. I made the best recipe the other night I wanted to share with y'all! It was super easy and so flavorful!

Sausage Tortellini Soup

Ingredients

1 pound ground Italian sausage hot or mild

1 small yellow onion diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

3 Tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon dried basil

½ teaspoon oregano

1 pinch cayenne, optional

1 teaspoon hot sauce

½ teaspoon mustard powder

¼ teaspoon pepper

1 cup heavy cream

5 cups chicken broth

2 cups kale, chopped

2 cups refrigerated tortellini (whole bag)

Salt/ to taste

1 pinch red pepper flakes

Instructions:

Cook and crumble the sausage and diced onions over medium-high heat until the onions are softened and the sausage is cooked through, 8-10 minutes. Drain grease. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.Add 1 tsp dried basil, ½ tsp oregano, 1 pinch of cayenne, 1 tsp hot sauce, ½ tsp mustard powder, ¼ tsp pepper. Stir to combine.Add the chicken broth and use a silicone spatula to “clean” the bottom of the pot. Add the cream. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer.Add the kale and tortellini and simmer for 3-5 minutes. (If your tortellini needs longer cooking time, add the tortellini first, then the kale during the last 5 minutes.)Taste the soup and add salt if desired. Start with ¼ tsp and add more after that if needed. Transfer to serving bowls and top with a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired.

Yum!!

Ok ok today's topic is....my fall edition book reviews.!

If your like me then your looking like this.

Buuuuutttt, if your not a reader then you may feel like this....

I read some good ones and great ones. Here we go!

If you know me, you know I love a good prison story. This book was so good! Also huge plus, if you have a kindle unlimited account, most of these books are available for free thru that. Total plus. This book had me shook. This book is based on a nurse who is newly hired at a men's prison, knowing the man who tried to kill her years ago is housed as an inmate there and there is a big secret he doesn't know from their past. It's a story of who actually was guilty in those grisly murders years ago. Really good!!

I think because it was spooky season I was reading a whole of psychological thrillers. I would say that is probably my favorite genre book. They hold my attention well. This book is set in England and is about a family who moves to a new city. There is poor choices made and some black mail and threats that go farther than they need.

Ok, this book I didn't love. My Mom recommended this read and it was a real book vs my kindle. It's based on twin sisters who couldn't be more opposite and when one is found dead, there is a whole lot of questions on how, when and why. I think the reason I didn't love this one was that there was a lot of characters and it jumped around a bit.

This is a series and this is the first one. It was cute, easy quick read. The main character, Jen was hilarious and witty and I could totally be friends with her. I will definitely keep reading this series even though I'm not a series kind of girl. I laughed out loud and found this book just charming.

whoa! This book had some major twists. I really enjoyed this one. I wasn't sure how it would end until the very last chapter and that doesn't happen often. A story about a broke girl with a horrible past who meets wealthy widow and blah blah fall in love. It seems too perfect and it is. As the title reads, Jane starts hearing noises and finds out there is someone upstairs. Does she really know her new love interest like she thinks she does.

Ok whew. Really good reads. You can't go wrong with checking them all out. Hope you have the best weekend and see ya back here next week!!
