My first ever official book review!

Updated: Jun 5, 2022

So I have been a reader for as long as I can remember. I grew up in the 90’s where we didn’t have smart phones and tablets like my kids do now. I fondly remember as a kid on summer days, sitting on the front porch with a book in hand. I switched over to a Kindle fire then a Kindle Paperwhite years ago and have never looked back. I love that you can finish a book at 9pm and immediately download another one vs having to go to the neighborhood library or bookstore. That being said, there is nothing better than holding a real book in your hands and turning those pages with your fingers. So drumroll please:

I read two books this month. Before I started my blog and social media I would read double that but ya know there just isn't enough hours in the day.

Buttons and Lace by Penelope Sky is a 6 book series. It’s also free on Kindle Unlimited if you have that subscription. My friend recommended this series and I have to say it’s been a good and quick read. It is about a woman who is on vacation in another country with her boyfriend and she gets kidnapped and sold into slavery. There are some twists and a romance that occurs in the end. I will continue this series and keep y’all up to date on how it continues thru the 6 book series.

The second book was The Return by Nicholas Sparks. Now friends, I haven’t read a N.S. book in a long while. They make for really good romantic movies but let’s be honest they are soooooo predictable. I got super bored with this one. The main character is ex military who is now a physician and moves to his deceased grandfather’s town and takes care of his bee hives and ends up falling in love with the sheriff deputy. There is a little more meat to the story with a mystery teen girl who is a runaway and needs help. Anyways I may stick with the movies because they are just a little easier to watch than read.

Drop some book suggestions in the comments on what I need to read next! And make sure to follow me on Goodreads!
